ALEXANDER

King room with sea view — sleeps 2

Built by former sheriff Alexander MacLeod in 1757 as his marital home, the original farmhouse still lends its charm to this spacious suite.

With two large windows framing stunning views of the Cuillins, this suite features beautiful carved furniture and cosy seating—one of our most impressive and inviting spaces.

Named after Margaret MacLeod, wife of Alexander, this is our smallest - but arguably our most charming - room.

Lovingly decorated with designer wallpaper, it features a unique carved spiral-post king bed and a cosy, welcoming atmosphere.

RODERICK

King room with garden view — sleeps 2

Named after Roderick MacLeod, the first of the family to settle in Ullinish and father of Alexander, this calming and spacious room sits within the 1800s wing of the house. Overlooking the garden, it offers a serene atmosphere and a generously sized shower room - perfect for a peaceful stay.

MAIRI

Twin room with mountain view — sleeps 2

Bright and bold, this twin room is named after Gaelic poet Mairi MacLeod of Ullinish. It offers stunning views of the Cuillins, extra storage, and a cozy seating area, perfect for enjoying your morning coffee while taking in the scenery.

JAMES BOSWELL

King room with sea, mountain, and courtyard view — sleeps 2

Named after the famous Scottish journalist Boswell, who stayed here in 1773 during his tour of the Hebrides with Dr. Johnson, and later featured the lodge in his Journal of a Tour to the Hebrides. This room combines history with comfort.

Lavishly decorated with elegant wallpaper and rich burgundy paneling, it is one of the cosiest rooms in the house, complete with a spacious shower room.

DR JOHNSON

King room with sea and mountain view — sleeps 2

Our largest suite is named after Dr. Samuel Johnson, the renowned writer and creator of the first English dictionary, who stayed in this room during his travels around the Hebrides and included Ullinish House in his famous A Journey to the Western Islands of Scotland.

The suite’s rich, moody décor complements the impressive half-tester bed and antique furniture. With two large windows overlooking Loch Bracadale, it offers stunning views, and the spacious bathroom features both a relaxing roll-top bath and a quick shower.

This spacious ground-floor room is perfect for families with young children. It features one large open-plan space with a double bed for parents, bunk beds for kids cleverly tucked into a special cupboard, and a private lounge area.
